We are located in central Virginia which includes the northern portion of the Blue Ridge mountains and the Piedmont Plateau. This juxtaposition makes for a very diverse ecological community. I moved here as a working ecologist and was suprised at how many species of plant and insect I did not recognize. I first took pictures as an aid to help me with identifications but has since evolved into an interest of photography. All of my photos are of plants and animals in their natural habitat. None of my pictures are staged and none of my subjects are confined, captive, or cultivated.
